農業生物技術講座系列(三十三)中國北方的沙漠與香港小農農場的再生
Agrobiotechnology Talk Series (33) Regenerating deserts in Northern China and small-holder farms in Hong Kong
Description:
Industrial farming with high inputs of synthetic fertilizers and pesticides have been producing crops at the expense of the health of the environment, crops and people, and fuelling the breaching planetary boundaries. In view of this, there has been a global movement of regenerative agriculture to reverse the impacts. It is not a set of rules that limit how farmers work, but a paradigm shift in agriculture that encourages us all to view the farming system holistically and support practices according to not just traditional knowledge but also the best knowledge of science to regenerate farmland while producing high quality crops.
We would share our experience in participating in restoration work in deserts, and in collaboration with small-holder local farms in transition to regenerative farming.
